Ihor Matselyukh - Pan Flute

Ihor Matselyukh, a gifted musician who, besides the Pan Flute, has mastered a number of other folk wind instruments, graduated from the Lviv National Music Academy in 1996 summa cum laude. Ihor Matselyukh has been the laureate in Ukrainian and International folk instruments performing competitions and International music festivals. But his beloved instrument has always been the Pan Flute. Even as a mature musician, he still takes master classes of the Pan Flute performing at the Chisnau musical academy. The Pan Flute playing takes most of his inspiration, as he also arranges music for different ensembles and the Pan Flute, combining it with the organ, various acoustic bands, string chamber orchestras and symphony orchestras. But most often his Pan Flute can be heard with the renowned Academic Chamber String Orchestra “Lviv Virtiosos” under the guidance of its founder, chief conductor and artistic director, People’s Artist of Ukraine Serhiy Burko.

Ihor Matselyukh initiated and performed the solo part in such concert projects as “Rumanian Music Abroad”, “Classical Meditations”, “From Pan Flute to Organ”, “Romantic Voices Through Strings and Pipes”, “New Year with Pan Flute”, etc. Besides, he made several recordings at the Ukrainian State Broadcasting Center with the Folk and Popular Music Orchestra. His repertoire comprises classical and folk music masterpieces, original compositions and transcriptions.

Ihor Matselyukh is a touring musician whose performing geography covers both Europe and America; he also actively propagates the Pan Flute in his home country playing with different instrumentalists and orchestras.
